Kathy Rice McLeod has sent us this very sad news about our classmate and friend on 3/22/2010:
Robert "Rughead" Hartley passed away last night in his garage due to a
fire. We are unsure of the details...but Jim and I got a call early
this morning from Chris Ostlind saying the garage caught fire (most
likely due to some of his rock equipment or a heater)....and they
found Rug after the fire was put out. The news was also on Channel 7 this
morning.
Jim spoke with Rug's son, Adam, this morning, and naturally, he is not
doing well. After all Rug has gone through, this is such a sad ending
to his life and our dear classmate and friend. "
It is a sad day when we have to say goodbye to someone we have known and
loved ...I hope we will all find comfort in our fond memories of Rug
and the strength of our friendships.
If you would like to express and share your feelings and memories about Rug, please send your message to us through "Contact Us" for posting.

If you were unable to attend the 60th Birthday Bash on October 24, 2009, don't miss the pictures here in the Photo Albums.
We had some serious good fun....about 75 or so of us met at The Catalina Coffee House in Redondo Beach.
Thanks to Kathy Rice McLeod we were entertained all evening by the songs of our younger years. Kathy also made all the arrangements with the Catalina Coffee House and it turned out to be a wonderful place for our party...lots of room in comfy chairs to sit and talk...and a big dance floor that Kathy and many others enjoyed all evening long...great job Kathy!
Linda Neville added some cool 60th birthday decorations that seemed right at home with the Halloween decorations the cafe already had up....got a little nervous about the grim reaper and the Happy 60th Birthday decorations being used together....but it was very festive! Thanks Linda.
Check out the cake Darcy had made for us in the photo album....Olympian rings and candles....no the fire department did not have to come to the rescue...we only lit a few token candles. Thanks Darcy, good cake.
Nancy Hallberg Kelly did an excellent job of picking out the wine....collectively we drink a lot of wine....and Nancy picked up all our favorites...thanks Nancy and also the 5 cent sale an Beverages and More!
Thanks to Jay Aleccia for hooking us up with a good catering group who cooked up pulled pork, beef and chicken sandwiches which were excellent. Jay also made sure there was plenty of beer...thanks, Jay!
Thank you Leon Darley for continuing to be our banker...our class bank account is maintained by Leon and the co-signature is Gordie Murray. Thanks guys we will be filling up the account again for the next event.
Cheryl Dore' Hall continues to keep the website up and informative...."contact us" if you have any suggestions or things you would like added. Max Bettman is going to jump in and help maintain the website throughout the year...Thanks Cheryl and Max.
We all had such a good time, we have decided we want to have a class event/party/trip/whatever every October. And we think we already know where we are going next October! More on that later....enjoy the pictures.
